Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein: Still Coming to Life 200 Years Later @ Burr and Burton Academy, Hunter Seminar Room

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Cates Baldridge, Professor of English and American Literature at Middlebury College, to talk about Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”. Since its publication two centuries ago, Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” has allowed each generation to find within it a reflection of their current hopes and fears. Over time, the novel has been read as a commentary on such issues as slavery, women’s rights, imperialism, Freudian psychology, education, gay identity, and of course, the perils and promise of scientific advances. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit www.greenmtnacademy.org.
