Notes from the Field: Sporting Art by Ogden Pleissner @ Burr and Burton Academy, Hunter Seminar Room

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Katie Wood Kirchhoff, the associate curator at Shelburne Museum, to talk about artist Ogden Pleissner. What do a pair of Bean boots, a tuxedo, and a deerstalker hat have in common? Join us as we investigate archival treasures that illuminate the hunting and fishing pictures of Ogden Pleissner (1905-1983), an American 20th-century painter who spent many years in southern Vermont. Together we will hike the dusty landscapes of Dubois, Wyoming, float through old-growth forests on the Restigouche River in New Brunswick, Canada, explore the piney lowlands of the exclusive Okeetee Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina, and more. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit www.greenmtnacademy.org.
