The Arctic – Scandinavia and USA @ Burr and Burton Academy, Hunter Seminar Room

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes back David Golibersuch to present the third talk in his Arctic exploration series. In this talk we will study the geography, history, nature, and culture of the Arctic regions of four countries – Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the United States. We’ll start with an expedition to Norwegian Svalbard. Then we’ll play tourist in the Arctic regions of Sweden and Finland, which despite being above the Arctic Circle, are surprisingly similar to Vermont. We’ll conclude by exploring one of the last true wilderness remaining on earth – the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
