DESCRIPTION:Even War has Rules \nwith Chris Hardaway \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe International Committee of the Red Cross estimates that over 120-armed  \nconflicts rage across the globe today. At times it may seem that there are no rules in war. But as this program will demonstrate\, ‘Even War has Rules.” This discussion of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) will address topics such as: \n  \n·      The sources of law and rules that apply to armed conflicts; \n·      The fundamental principles of IHL that guide development of these rules; \n·      And how IHL protects people and places during armed conflicts. \n  \nBy the end of the program\, participants will achieve a general understanding of IHL and will be better able to evaluate the actions of parties to armed conflicts. \nChris Hardaway is on faculty at Community College of Vermont\, volunteers with the American Red Cross teaching International Humanitarian Law programming and is a member of the Vermont Bar Association. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, April 9 \n5:30-7 pm \nat Burr and Burton Academy\, Bell Tower Room \nFREE or Pay What You Wish
