DESCRIPTION:GMALL Presents – Green Mountain Modern: Architecture of the 1930s to 1970s in Vermont\nThursday\, June 18 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Burr & Burton Academy\, Bell Tower Room\n\n\nGreen Mountain Academy welcomes Devin Colman\, the Director of the UVM Historic Preservation Graduate Program\, to talk about modern architecture in the Green Mountain State. Vermont holds a special place in our minds as a 19th century time capsule\, where quaint villages and picturesque farmsteads exist in a land that time forgot. But Vermont also boasts a significant body of 20th century architectural heritage\, and this talk will explore the innovative building forms\, materials\, and concepts behind notable examples of Mid-Century Modern architecture throughout the state. DESCRIPTION:Even War has Rules \nwith Chris Hardaway \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe International Committee of the Red Cross estimates that over 120-armed  \nconflicts rage across the globe today. At times it may seem that there are no rules in war. But as this program will demonstrate\, ‘Even War has Rules.” This discussion of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) will address topics such as: \n  \n·      The sources of law and rules that apply to armed conflicts; \n·      The fundamental principles of IHL that guide development of these rules; \n·      And how IHL protects people and places during armed conflicts. \n  \nBy the end of the program\, participants will achieve a general understanding of IHL and will be better able to evaluate the actions of parties to armed conflicts. \nChris Hardaway is on faculty at Community College of Vermont\, volunteers with the American Red Cross teaching International Humanitarian Law programming and is a member of the Vermont Bar Association. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, April 9 \n5:30-7 pm \nat Burr and Burton Academy\, Bell Tower Room \nFREE or Pay What You Wish
