History and Future Potential of Weather Forecasting

Tuesday, March 30 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm via Zoom

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Christopher Walcek, a research associate at University of Albany’s Atmospheric Sciences Research Center, to present a fascinating look at weather forecasting. His talk will summarize the history of weather forecasting: from pre-scientific notions, to modern physics-based multi-ensemble super-computer techniques. Some of the underlying physics is presented (in lay-person terms), and the potential commercial and economic impacts of future developments in this exciting area will be presented. Registration for the talk is $15 in advance.
