Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is excited to present the final program in their series, “Vermont Conversations: Imagining Our Future”. For the final program – “The Opiate Crisis and You” – GMALL welcomes Col. James Baker, former chief of the Vermont State Police and current head of JW Leadership Consulting LLC to give the keynote address of the series. A tidal wave of drug addiction is affecting Vermont communities in ways you wouldn’t expect. The opiate crisis in particular is having far-reaching consequences in Vermont. No community is immune to the adverse health, safety, and financial impacts on our cities and towns. Col. Baker will delve into the origins of this issue, the policy and enforcement challenges and the unanticipated and unmitigated dangers surfacing in our communities. And as the intersection of public safety and public health is becoming increasingly apparent, he will share the possible short and long-term solutions to protect our Vermont communities. The series is sponsored by The Keelan Family Foundation. Registration is $22 per person. For more information or to register, please call our office at 802-867-0111 or visit greenmtnacademy.org.
